The initial short 1.5 kilometre run around the perimeter road of the high school served as a useful sprint warm up for the 15 km cycle staged initially into the wind and then on emerging from Lochore Meadows Country Park's Pit Road raced home with wind and snow behind the riders. The 400 metre swim thawed several frozen limbs.
A dramatic overall result in the senior male category was achieved with a dead heat from the victors of each of the two heat event. Adrian Allen of the East Fife Triathlon Club avoided the navigational errors of the lead cycle group and came home in an overall time of 41:56 whilst Nick Scales of Edinburgh Triathlon Club setting off in the second wave came home in exactly the same time
Two encouraging features of the race was both the number of first time novice triathletes and the high number of females (over 25% of the total entry) competing.
The next race will be staged on 21 March at Lochgelly High School.
